Diversity and inclusion

Your uniqueness powers our mission – we need people looking at challenging problems from different perspectives.

We recognise that diversity is what makes each of us unique. This includes our background, personality, educational attainments, life experiences and beliefs.

Inclusion and diversity are not just words – they are entrenched in our core values. We are committed to ensuring that our people can contribute their skills and abilities in an inclusive environment, where people can fully be themselves each day.

To find out more about ASD’s commitments to diversity and inclusion you can read the ASD Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2019-22.

ASD supports a number of internal diversity networks.

ASD+

ASD+ is our LGBTQ+ support network. The ASD+ network is inclusive of all staff and holds regular events to support and promote sexual and gender diversity and the inclusion of the LGBTQ+ workforce at ASD.

ATSI@ASD

The ATSI@ASD network supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working in, or who are interested in working in, ASD and raises awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders' issues, perspectives and events.

Neurodiversity

At ASD, we value being audacious in concept and meticulous in execution, so the complexity of our work requires common neurodiverse strengths, such as resourcefulness, adaptability, a flair for detail, patterns or big-picture correlations. To invest in these neurodiverse staff, we work to create flexible and accommodating environments to suit their individual needs.

Parenting Outreach Program

Our Parenting Outreach Program ensures we stay in contact with you while you're on parental leave and assist those interested in returning to work.

The program aims to help parents on parental leave re-establish or build workplace networks and provides useful information and updates about the workplace that may have occurred in their absence.

Women’s Leadership Council

ASD's Women's Leadership Council aims to increase the gender diversity of our STEM and leadership groups, to improve outcomes through better decision-making and improved team performance.
