Together with other Five Eyes cyber security agencies, ASD’s Australian Cyber Security Centre has released a statement, highlighting that advances in artificial intelligence (AI) are rapidly increasing the scale and speed of cyber threats.
AI is compressing the time between the discovery of vulnerabilities and their exploitation, meaning cyber risk assumptions can become outdated in months, not years. This increases the risk not only of operational disruption, but potentially also financial loss, exposure of sensitive data and regulatory penalties.
Leaders must act now by strengthening foundational security practices, reducing exposure and embedding cyber risk into organisational strategy. These actions will help organisations withstand and recover from increasingly sophisticated, AI-enabled cyber incidents.
