Central Bureau banner

From 1942 to 1945 Central Bureau, housed in a Brisbane suburban mansion, ‘Nyrambla’, operated as a top-secret intelligence unit where Australian, United States, British, Canadian and New Zealand personnel decoded Japanese military signals.

This banner originated from the Central Bureau Intelligence Corps Association comprising former Central Bureau staff, who met in Brisbane and Melbourne regularly through to the 1990s. After the association disbanded, relatives of the members donated the banner to ASD.
