Defence Intelligence and Security Group
The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is one of three intelligence agencies within the Department of Defence Intelligence and Security Group:
- Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO, formerly DIGO)
- Australian Signals Directorate (ASD)
- Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO).
ASD was formerly known as the Defence Signals Directorate (DSD). We were renamed in May 2013 to reflect our national role in cyber security, disaster response and national security. The renaming did not affect our functions, powers or accountability.
The fourth agency in the group, the Defence Security Authority (DSA), provides protective security services to the department.
